Background
Kortical is an enterprise AI as a Service (AIaaS) platform driven by automatic machine learning (AutoML). It allows data scientists to explore and analyse datasets, build machine solutions quickly and easily, and deploy and manage models across different environments to facilitate future predictions and model upgrades.
Task
Design an intuitive, approachable user interface for Kortical, setting it apart from other ML platforms which are complicated and intimidating to use.
Platform redesign
I worked directly with Kortical’s founder/CEO to learn about their users’ needs and expectations, and to make sure my designs fulfilled all technical and functional requirements. This was a challenging feat, given the platform’s level of sophistication and complexity, as well as my limited knowledge of AI and AutoML.
Onboarding flows
I was also tasked to create onboarding flows to supplement the redesigned screens. This included welcome screens for first-time users, modals for uploading a dataset and chart help screens.
Website rebrand
I updated and rebranded the Kortical website to promote the new and improved platform.
I kept the original blue from their logo, and added splashes of neon pink and yellow for a fresh and friendly feel. I utlised white space to reflect openness and approachability, and incorporated simple gradients and graphics for a bit of personality.
Marketing collateral
Apart from the website, I created social media ads for LinkedIn, Instagram and Google using the new brand colours and identity. This included a mix of bold, tagline-centred ads, and more traditional ads portraying their target market.
New feature development
I continue to have regular meetings and virtual brainstorming and whiteboarding sessions with Kortical’s CEO to develop and design new features for the platform.
